Your manuscript will not be distributed, given, shown, or made available to anyone, ever, without your specific written permission. I am responsible for keeping your work private from the point it reaches my computer. I cannot be held responsible for interception during email transit or due to hacking of any email or computer server physically outside my place of business. Should you have any question regarding this policy, please contact me prior to sending any of your work to me. You ("Author"), inclusive of your agents and others acting on your behalf to contract for the services of Robin D. Ader ("Robin") agree to the Terms and Conditions set forth herein, and recognize that this is the complete and total agreement. Other than Privacy as stated above, Robin is not responsible for anything under any circumstances whatsoever. Author stipulates that it is the nature of writing, and the editing of that writing, that differing opinions will arise. Three editors, when asked to edit the same work will arrive at three different end products. If the single editor is asked to work on a manuscript twice, with a separation of time, he/she will invariably produce two different results. And neither will be perfect. It is axiomatic that works by the most successful authors, edited and published by the most prestigious firms, still have errors. Often, the most obvious and simple errors. Imperfection: Robin DOES NOT warrant, guarantee, or in any way promise that his work will arrive at a perfect result. Author understands and accepts: 1. The edits to Author's manuscript will be returned to Author in a Microsoft Word document of the same generation (1997-2003, 2007, etc.) as supplied to Robin, and that all edits will be presented in that document using Microsoft Word's Track Changes function. While Robin, or this site, might provide guidance as to the use of Track Changes, Robin is in no way responsible for training Author on the use of Track Changes unless separate monetary arrangements are made. 2. All communication between Author and Robin will take place via email; a delay in responding to an email from Robin will cause delay in the completion of contracted services. It is Author's responsibility to understand the use of his/her email programs and have the ability to upload and download documents as attachments to email. 3. Telephone calls will occur only at Robin's discretion. Delays and/or Inability to Complete Services: Every effort will be made to return the edited manuscript in the prescribed period of time. However, should there be a delay, or if Robin is unable to performed the contracted services, liability is limited to the amount of money paid by Author to Robin. Robin does not accept liability for any direct or consequential damages to Author or his/her agents that may result from the delay of returning an edited manuscript or inability to edit the manuscript. No liability is accepted for Author's action or failure to perform an action by said delay or inability to complete the contracted services. Unacceptability of Content: Robin reserved the right to refuse to edit any manuscript that he finds offensive -- and, boy do you have to go pretty far to cross that line. Topics that will not be accepted include, but are not limited to those that promote or describe in detail any activity that is illegal (bomb making, drug preparation, etc.) even if presented in a fictionalized setting; stories that advocate violence against women and children or their abuse in a context outside just story-telling; anything that promotes hate or violence against any ethnic, religious, racial, or sexually oriented group, again, outside the bounds of a good story. Robin is the sole arbiter of those bounds. Liability Regarding Manuscript Submissions: Robin accepts no liability for the outcome of submission of manuscripts on which Robin has worked, or which have been formatted using any information suggested on this site or material downloaded from this site. Suitability and formats change. It is Author's responsibility to confirm the suitability and acceptability of manuscript formatting prior to submitting it to an agent, publisher, or any third party. Severability: Should any clause, paragraph, or point within a clause be deemed unenforceable, the remainder of this agreement will remain in force. Clarity: Should any condition, phrase, or word be unclear to you, please contact me via email prior to sending me any of your work.
